Born in South Africa, Margaret Wild has spent most of her adult life in Australia, where she began as a magazine feature writer and then worked as an editor in children's book publishing for over a dozen years. Simultaneous, Wild had a prolific career as an author, writing over seventy children's book and five novels. Her most awarded books include Fox

, and she received The Nan Chauncy Award in 2008 for her overall body of work in children's literature.
